Carlos Mora was a Best Poster Nominees at the 2014 Fall meeting of the Materials Research Science (MRS) community. He was invited to record a short presentation about his poster, which is now available online.

The FML group spent one day in the beautiful village Einsiedeln. After a guided tour through the famous library of the monastery of Einsiedeln, we enjoyed an extended lunch with cheese fondue and wine on top of the ski jumping venue with a panorama vue over Einsiedeln.

Chemistry World (RSC) has featured an FML article authored by Madeleine Bloch. She used Silica Particles with Encapsulated DNA (SPED) for tagging food products and their production chains.

The FML started a crowdfunding campaign for DrinkPure - A novel water filtration device on 17th July 2014. Already 13 days later, on 31th July, the goal of 40'000 $ was reached!  

Jonas Halters's paper about self-defending anti-vandalism surfaces was featured in various media. A crew of the German TV channel ProSieben filmed our lab here at ETH. The report was broadcasted as part of the scientific program 'Galileo' on 14th July 2014.  

An image of Nora Hild's paper about the antibacterial effect of PLGA and bioactive glass was featured on the cover of a virtual special issue about bioactive glass in Acta Biomaterialia.

Michela Puddu's paper about magnetically recoverable invisible oil tags was featured amongst others in Tagesanzeiger (the 2nd most read daily newspaper of Switzerland), The Guardian (GB), La Stampa (IT) and many more online news platforms and tech blogs.

Philipp Stössel's paper 'Spinning Angora Rabbit Wool-Like Porous Fibers from a Non-Equilibrated Gelatin/Water/2-Propanol Mixture' was featured on the cover of Advanced Functional Materials!

Wendelin Stark was interviewed by RSC Chemistry World about the effects of the recent poll about immigration for the science community in Switzerland.
